Journeys Through The Past

Somerset County-Wide History Groups Weekend
October 13 & 14, 2007
12 noon – 5 pm

Free Admission

Journeys Through the Past is a Somerset county wide history tour for people of all ages. For two days, families, seniors, students and history lovers alike all receive a map guiding them from historic site to historic site through out the county, sampling all kinds of pieces from our great state’s past, from craft demonstrations to lectures.

 There will be an exhibit of findings from the Historic Landscape Report on the Vanderveer property Saturday and Sunday.

Sunday @ 3pm free lecture by Dr. Ian Burrow, archaeologist, Hunter Research, Inc. and Dennis Bertland, historian on the HLR at the Vanderveer House.

Colonial Christmas is a holiday fund raising event at the Vanderveer House. Celebrated interior and floral designers decorate the house in trimmings of the times for a festive and beautiful look into Christmas’ past.

The historic Jacobus Vanderveer House will be open for tours, storytelling, and children's games in connection with Bedminster Township's Fall Fest.

The Merry Wives of 1776

Time: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Luncheon to benefit the restoration of The Jacobus Vanderveer House and a talk by Carol Berkin, author of the book "Revolutionary Mothers."

 


Ms. Berkin's book will be sold at the luncheon.
